Eriksholm Summer School

The Eriksholm summer school is a five-day all-expenses-covered workshop for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers who are funded or related to Demant. It provides a unique opportunity to meet and network with fellow PhD students and postdocs connected to Demant, learn from scientists and specialists how their work is relevant in industry, and gain an understanding of the end-user needs and challenges across 3 business areas of Demant – EPOS, Oticon, and Interacoustics. The Eriksholm Summer School is organized by the William Demant Foundation.

This year, we will spend a day at Eriksholm (hearing research) in Snekkersten, Oticon (high-end hearing aid developer) in Smørum, and Interacoustics (world-leading audiological and balance diagnostic equipment developer) in Middelfart, digging into details of exactly how scientific knowledge is translated into different types of value (new state-of-art algorithms and technologies) at each business.

The summer school will include:

  • A fun and engaging social program.
  • Increasing your professional network with other researchers, specialists and managers in Demant.
  • In-depth time spent with scientific specialists in each business area.
  • Based on your input in the form below, we could offer an optional assignment, which your academic Institution may accept for ECTS credits. The topic is innovation, and the curriculum includes innovation theory and framing your research according to innovation theories within business areas of Demant.

Location

Accommodation and hospitality will be provided at Roskilde Festival Højskole, in Roskilde. This will be our ‘home base’ where we will return for dinner most nights. In addition to sleeping and eating there, we will have an amazing chance to learn about what a Danish højskole actually is, and will be able to interact and live with the students who are learning there while we visit. The Højskole focusses on creativity, art, music and events, and has amazing facilities that we will be able to use while we visit. During our stay we are guests at the Højskole – the students call this place home while they are studying there. Please keep this in mind while we are there

From Roskilde, we will travel by bus each day to one of the Demant business areas, where a host will lead us through an agenda designed to maximize interaction with the people in the organization who actually do the work.

Please arrive at Roskilde Festival Højskole ideally between 1 pm and 3 pm on Sunday September 1st. If you are coming from Denmark or you have simple travel from Sweden etc, please arrange this travel yourself, and keep any receipts for re-imbursement. If you are coming from overseas, please contact Jette (jwni@eriksholm.com) who will organize your travel.
